Created in coordination with National Grid and SmartPower, this educational presentation covers the basics on how and why to save energy (and money) in your House of Worship. From light bulbs to renewables, we’ll walk you through the details and answer all your questions. Then we’ll help you determine and take next steps as needed.
Start with an energy audit, bring in a RI IPL consultant to create a plan and timeline, and begin taking steps to lower your energy usage and increase your efficiency. From recycling to window panels to solar, RI IPL will help you take steps to become a model for climate change action in your community, what we call a “Cool Congregation“.
Let’s spread the word about an important resource available to help moderate- and middle-income homeowners obtain zero interest loans to weatherize their homes. DoubleGreen Loans are offered by the Capital Good Fund, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides financial services to low-income families. And in addition to spreading the word about the availability of zero-interest weatherization loans, RI IPL members can expand the pool of loan capital for this important program by making loans to the Capital Good Fund specifically dedicated to DoubleGreen with interest rates ranging from 1% to 3%.
Rhode Island Public Transit Authority offers a number of environmentally-friendly transit options including an EcoPass, a program to subsidize ridership. Another exciting opportunity that RI IPL is pleased to announce is our partnership with NuRide, a free offering where you are rewarded for your “green” trips, such as carpooling, bicycling, telecommuting, riding public transit and so forth.
Thanks to the generous support of the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund, we are partnering with Solarize RI in a joint campaign called Interfaith Solar Initiative to help Houses of Worship and the members of their congregations access incentives for renewable energy.
